interactive Installation | 2015 | 3 plastic buckets, 3 giant beach balls, Nylonschnur| 4.00m x 4.00m x 1.20m | photo source: 1: Susan Feind, 2+3: Martin Gensheimer | exhibition view: solo show "Strategies of Planned Obsolescence", Künstler- und Atelierhaus der Stadt Duisburg

Three giant beach balls, which are filled with air, are connected through a nylon cord with an empty plastic bucket. The nylon cord runs through two hooks attached to the ceiling and through a second plastic bucket, which is also fixed to the ceiling. This second bucket is filled with water. For the period of half an hour the water runs from the upper plastic bucket along the nylon cord into the lower bucket. Through the increasing weight in the lower bucket the beach balls are slowly pulled up till the air-filled balloons are hovering just above the ground and are in balance with the water-filled plastic bucket.
